INCREASE EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY

Reducing the emissions of your RO-RO/PCTC vessels at every port

Ro-Ro vessels are designed to transport wheel-based cargo or cargo loaded on wheel-based equipment. Frequent port calls mean that emissions must be minimized, while the efficient loading and unloading of the ship is a primary requirement.

Ro-Ro vessels typically operate on short trades with frequent port calls. Their operating profile shows that some 36% of these vessels spend more than 80% of their time in ECA (Emission Control Area). To help meet environmental legislation, Wärtsilä has developed future proof propulsion solutions that provide fuel flexibility and also high levels of efficiency to reduce fuel and operating costs at the same time.

PCTC (Pure car/truck carrier) vessels are purpose built for the transportation of different types of rolling cargo. The essential requirement is that the machinery installation occupies the minimum space to maximize cargo space and facilitate cargo handling.

Energy efficiency for the marine industry

Improving efficiency is a known requirement but how can this be achieved.  In this short video we explore how to decrease energy consumption to increase profitability and at the same time reduce emissions

Market trends in the Merchant Shipping industry

Pressure on owners and managers in the merchant fleet is increasing and identifying ways to reduce costs is central to relieving some of this pressure. Explore some of the short term solutions available to achieve this in this video.
